A pencil skirt is a narrow, hips-hugging skirt, usually knee-length, just above / below the knee, or mid-calf.

Such a skirt model is able to create a feminine, elegant and even sexy look. The classic pencil skirt will suit almost all types of body, hide flaws, if any, and highlight the merits. It will be relevant both in the office and in the restaurant or theater.

The pencil skirt became really popular thanks to Christian Dior, who in 1940 presented his collection which included a pencil skirt. The next peak of its popularity overtook in the 1980s when the fashion critics recognized it as a symbol of independence and an office style freedom. Since then, such high fashion brands as Christian Dior, Valentino, Nina Ricci, Chanel, Elie Saab, Diane von Furstenberg started to include this skirt to their collections almost every season.
