Furmint
Furmint is a white grape variety most famously grown in Hungary, particularly in the Tokaj region, where it is the key grape used in the production of Tokaji Aszú, one of the world’s great sweet wines. It is also capable of producing excellent dry wines, showing remarkable structure and aging potential. Furmint thrives in volcanic soils and a continental climate, offering a combination of bright acidity and complexity that has attracted growing international attention.

Flavor
Furmint wines are known for their high acidity and flavors of green apple, pear, quince, and citrus, often with smoky, mineral, and honeyed notes—especially in botrytized or aged versions. Dry expressions may also show spice and almond tones with a firm, elegant structure.

Food Pairing
Dry Furmint pairs well with roast pork, smoked fish, hard cheeses, and spicy dishes such as Asian cuisine. Sweet Tokaji versions are excellent with blue cheese, foie gras, and fruit-based desserts.
