Erbaluce

January 11, 2026

Erbaluce is a white grape variety native to the Piedmont region of northern Italy, particularly around the area of Caluso. Known for its high acidity and versatility, Erbaluce is used to make dry, sparkling, and sweet passito wines. The name combines “erba” (grass) and “luce” (light), evoking the grape’s vibrant freshness and golden hue.

Flavor

Erbaluce wines are typically crisp and lively, with flavors of green apple, citrus, pear, and white flowers. The grape’s natural acidity gives the wines a bright, clean finish and aging potential. In sweet passito versions, notes of honey, dried apricot, and almond emerge.
