Dom Pérignon
Dom Pérignon is a French champagne house founded in 1668 by the Benedictine monk Pierre Pérignon. It is known as the most prestigious and legendary champagne in the world, produced only in exceptional vintage years from the best vineyards of Champagne. The brand is famous for its signature taste with notes of white flowers, citrus, and brioche, as well as its silver shield on the label.
Interesting fact: The monk Pierre Pérignon, after whom the brand is named, never actually said “Come, my brothers, I am drinking stars!” — that’s an invention of 19th-century advertisers. But the most astonishing part? Pérignon devoted 47 years of his life to creating the perfect champagne, but never knew that his creation would become a symbol of luxury. He died in 1715, and it was only a century later that the technology he developed was perfected. His grave still rests in the Abbey of Hautvillers, where he spent his entire life.
