Kir

August 15, 2024

Kir cocktail originated in Burgundy, France, and became famous thanks to Canon Félix Kir, a mayor and resistance hero. He served the drink, made from local white wine and crème de cassis, at official events to promote regional products. Traditionally, it uses Aligoté wine, a Burgundy variety, but any dry white wine can be used. Over time, the cocktail gained international popularity, and variants like the Kir Royale (made with Champagne) emerged. Simple yet elegant, Kir remains a symbol of French hospitality and tradition.
