Welschriesling
Welschriesling, also known as Graševina, is a white grape variety widely cultivated in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly in Croatia, where it is considered the most important white grape. It thrives in the continental climate of regions like Slavonia and the Danube basin. Though not related to Riesling, Graševina is known for its refreshing acidity and adaptability, producing a range of styles from dry and crisp to rich late harvest wines.
Flavor
Welschriesling wines often display aromas of green apple, citrus, and subtle floral notes, with a clean, mineral-driven character. Depending on ripeness and vinification, flavors can range from zesty and light to fuller, honeyed expressions with almond and spice undertones.
Food Pairing
Welschriesling pairs excellently with freshwater fish, poultry, light pasta dishes, and soft cheeses. Its crisp acidity also makes it a great companion to salads, mildly spiced Asian cuisine, and cold appetizers.
