A special technique in the manufacture of gold and silver jewelry, usually made with tiny beads or twisted threads, or as a combination of both, soldered together or to the surface of an object of the same metal and arranged in artistic motifs. It often reminds lace and is still popular in Indian and other Asian metalwork, as well as widely used in the work of Italian, French and Portuguese metalwork. This jewelry method has been favoured for its delicate, feminine finish.
