Margarita

August 9, 2024

Margarita is a classic cocktail with origins that are somewhat shrouded in mystery, but it is widely believed to have been created in the 1930s or 1940s in Mexico. One popular story attributes its invention to bartender Carlos “Danny” Herrera, who reportedly crafted the drink at his Tijuana restaurant for a customer who was allergic to most spirits except tequila. Another legend suggests that it was created by socialite Margarita Sames during a party at her Acapulco vacation home. Regardless of its true origin, the Margarita quickly gained popularity for its refreshing blend of tequila, lime juice, and triple sec, becoming a staple of Mexican and American cocktail culture.
