Montepulciano

March 8, 2025

Montepulciano is a red grape variety predominantly grown in Italy, particularly in the Abruzzo region. Known for producing medium to full-bodied wines with moderate acidity and tannins, Montepulciano is often associated with the popular Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC. This grape variety thrives in the warm, sunlit climate of central Italy, where it develops rich, deep flavors. Despite sharing its name with the Tuscan town of Montepulciano, the grape is not grown there, which can sometimes cause confusion among wine enthusiasts.
