Piña Colada

August 8, 2024

Piña Colada is a tropical cocktail that originated in Puerto Rico during the 1950s. Its creation is often attributed to Ramón “Monchito” Marrero, a bartender who invented the drink at the Caribe Hilton in San Juan, aiming to capture the island’s essence in a glass. The cocktail quickly gained popularity for its refreshing combination of rum, pineapple juice, and coconut cream. It became widely recognized when it was named the official drink of Puerto Rico in 1978. Since then, the Piña Colada has become synonymous with tropical relaxation and beach vacations.
