Terylene is a universal synthetic fabric, based on polyesters. It can be used as a uniform material or in combination with other fibers. Terylene practically does not wear out, is durable, biologically stable, comfortable.

Was invented in the UK in 1943 and later in 1949 in the USSR.

The material has several names, depending on the country: “Terylene” (UK), “Lavsan” (Russia/Ukraine), “Tergal” (France), “Trevira” (Germany), “Terital” (Italy), “Dacron” (USA).

Advantages:

• strength;
• resistance to crushing;
• elasticity;
• microbial resistance;
• ability to keep warm;
• no shrinkage;
• resistance to ultraviolet radiation;
• inertness with respect to chemical reagents;
• ease of care.

Disadvantages:

• poor air permeability;
• small water absorption;
• susceptibility to the formation of static electricity;
• resistance to many dyes;
• rigidity.
