Long Island Iced Tea

March 4, 2025

Long Island Iced Tea is a potent cocktail that gained popularity in the 1970s. Its creation is often attributed to a bartender named Robert “Rosebud” Butt, who allegedly invented the drink during a competition at the Oak Beach Inn in Long Island, New York. The cocktail was designed to showcase a mix of several spirits while mimicking the appearance of iced tea, hence its name. Despite containing a combination of vodka, gin, tequila, rum, and triple sec, it is known for its surprisingly smooth and balanced flavor.

Flavor:

Long Island Iced Tea has a refreshing, sweet, and slightly tangy flavor with the citrusy brightness of lemon balancing the sweetness of cola. Despite the variety of strong spirits, the blend of alcohol is remarkably smooth, making it deceptively easy to drink.
