The eponymous footwear of the German shoe brand. The “Birkenstock” company was the first to invent and start producing comfortable slippers with an anatomically correct shape of the sole, after which all similar shoe models started to be called “birkenstocks”.

Birkenstock slippers were originally used exclusively as prophylactic and orthopedic shoes. This property was achieved with the help of a special shoe insole, which repeated the bends of the foot.

However, if earlier they were worn only for medical reasons, now Birkenstocks are quite often found on the runway or among everyday footwear of fashionistas of all ages.
