Haneri (半衿) — an element of the traditional Japanese attire, a distinctive and ornamental collar or neckline insert worn by both men and women in conjunction with the kimono. This detachable collar serves a dual purpose, offering a functional layer that absorbs perspiration to safeguard the kimono and concurrently bestowing an aesthetic touch to enhance the overall elegance of the garment. The haneri has a rich history, tracing its origins back to the Heian period (794–1185), a time when the aristocracy embraced elaborate clothing adorned with intricate designs and layers.
