Orange Glaze Chocolate Cookies

Ingredients:
- 6 tablespoons butter
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- zest from one orange
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Optional to add into the dough:
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
For the glaze:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1 tablespoon softened cream cheese
Recipe:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Cream together butter, sugar, and orange zest. Add egg and vanilla extract.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Combine dry ingredients with wet ingredients.
4. Roll heaping tablespoons of dough into balls, place on the sheet, and flatten slightly. Bake for 13 minutes.
5. Cool on the sheet before transferring to a wire rack. Repeat with remaining dough.
6. For the glaze: mix powdered sugar, orange juice, zest, melted butter, and softened cream cheese. Spoon onto cookies or dip tops in the icing. Sprinkle with extra orange zest for garnish.
