Covert Coat is a twill cloth topcoat featuring four lines of “railroad” stitching at the sleeve and bodice hems, designed to safeguard against thorns and similar hazards. These coats usually come in an oatmeal hue with a dark brown collar. Initially crafted as a hunting and riding coat with a deep center vent, modern covert coats are now more streamlined and shorter compared to traditional overcoats.
