Glossy Latex

During Paris Fashion Week, Saint Laurent made a little revolution, changing and diversifying the style inherent to their clothes. According to Anthony Vaccarello, the creative director of Saint Laurent, their goal was to show the versatility of the clients of the fashion house. Models walked on the catwalk in blouses with bow scarves and bulky-shoulder jackets combined with over the knee boots made of the shiny leather, tight-fitting trousers, latex skirts and seductive dresses.

Richard Quinn, in his turn, reflected the grim aesthetics of black latex in his collection, especially in combination with a hypertrophied floral theme. Apparently, the dark side of fashion also attracted Demna Gvasalia, the current creative director of Balenciaga: models in their runway show came out in blood-red latex dresses, having black and red “demonic” lenses in their eyes. Latex is also present in the collection by Olivier Rousteing from Balmain, in a slightly futuristic theme, with the models dressed in caramel brown tight-fitting suits.
