A shoe tree is a device approximately equal to the shape of a foot that is placed inside a shoe to preserve its shape, stop it from developing creases and thus extending the life of the shoe. Except maintaining the shape, shoe trees also play an important role in wicking away leather-damaging moisture from the inside, which is especially crucial when shoes are worn without socks.
High quality shoe trees are made from wood, usually cedar because it helps to control odour and absorb moisture.
