Xarel·lo [sha-rell-oh] is a white grape variety grown in Spanish, specifically in the region of Catalonia, being one of the three traditional grape varieties used to make the sparkling wine “cava”, which is a Spanish variation of champagne wines. Xarel·lo can be also known by the names: Cartoixà, Pansa Blanca, Cartuja, Pansal, Xarelo Blanco, Premsal Blanca, Xerello.
