Why Microdermabrasion is Good for Your Skin?

January 14, 2021

Microdermabrasion is a hardware resurfacing procedure that is performed to smooth the skin of the face. When the top layer of the skin is removed with the help of a special tool, the growth of new cells is activated, which helps to eliminate existing flaws.

microdermabrasion

Hardware microdermabrasion is a method of skin resurfacing using aluminum macrocrystals or diamond dusting. Due to this effect, exfoliation and cleansing of the skin from dead cells occurs. Such a procedure becomes a stimulation to start recovery processes: narrowing of pores, smoothing of fine wrinkles and skin relief, as well as the process of collagen production is triggered. Most often, microdermabrasion is used to eliminate traces of post-acne when the acute period of the disease has passed. Also, this method is effective in combating scars. Micro resurfacing helps to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, which undoubtedly plays an important role in the regeneration processes of the skin and helps to make it more firm and elastic.

There are 3 types of microdermabrasion: diamond, crystalline, and HydraFacial.

diamond resurfacing

As for the diamond resurfacing, a special tool or nozzle with a diamond coating is being used. During the procedure, there is a mechanical effect of diamond dusting, thus cleansing the skin from dead cells. Nowadays, this method has been used more and more often, and it is considered as a more gentle method of resurfacing.

crystalline microdermabrasion

During the crystalline microdermabrasion, microcrystals of aluminum are fed into a special nozzle under high pressure. Dead cells are exfoliated and collected in a special reservoir on the device.

hydrafacial

HydraFacial is basically a more advanced version of microdermabrasion and is sometimes also called as ‘wet microdermabrasion’.

The effect is noticeable almost immediately. The course itself usually consists of 4-6 sessions with a frequency of once every 1-2 weeks. Be sure to use sunscreen after the procedure, since the protective layer of the epidermis is disturbed. In addition, it is recommended to refrain from physical activity and visiting sauna, as the skin will actively react to temperature changes or the appearance of sweat.
